Lympstone Village Hall

CORONAVIRUS update: 14 September: The hall is open,

The latest government restrictions on social gatherings don’t affect regular weekly events at the hall – which are for exercise or work, rather than pleasure. And the primary school continues to use the hall for lunches and other school purposes.

Sadly we aren’t taking bookings for parties or similar events for dates in 2020 until further notice. We are taking reservations for events in 2021, obviously subject to the government rules that are in force at the date of the event.

But PLEASE NOTE – We are taking bookings within limits set by government restrictions. And please note, social distancing restrictions will often mean that the number of people who can attend any specific event will be lower than normal – we will need to calculate this when we know what you plan.

Please note that during COVID restrictions, availability on our calendar isn’t a guarantee that a room/rooms will be available. We have to sanitise between hirings and that requires volunteers to be available at exact times. Our Function Room is now quite busy weekday daytimes and you may need to be flexible to be accommodated

Because there are uncertainties as to what regulations will be in the autumn and beyond, we are waiving our normal cancellation policy for events booked at any dates in the remainder of 2020 and the first half of 2021.

We hope to see you again soon!

If you have booked the hall and need to discuss rescheduling or cancellation, ring the Booking Line on 01395 262640 or e-mail

Booking the Hall

Want to book? Please read this section carefully. If you make a booking you will be entering into a contract for hire of the hall which is governed by our terms and conditions.

Is the hall available? – See our calendar which is regularly updated. Bookings now being taken to end of 2020. We are also willing to discuss wedding reservations for 2021 against a small initial deposit.

We hire the hall and its facilities to people and organisations within the village and the wider district. There are a number of possible combinations of rooms, including hiring the whole hall for exclusive use.

We take bookings from voluntary groups and individuals; all bookings are at the discretion of the management committee. Unfortunately we are unable to take bookings for teenage parties.

Your booking is subject to our terms and conditions. You must adhere to the licensing conditions for the hall which are displayed inside. These cover safety, hours of use and alcohol licensing.

We charge by the hour, with a normal two-hour minimum booking, You can book any room or combination of rooms by the hour (or half hour),  So you pay for exactly what you need. We can arrange a licence for you to run your own bar (and you keep the profits).

See our charges. Note discounted package prices for parties. Also special wedding package rates.

Please note that it is highly likely that other hirers will be using the hall immediately before or after you, so you need to be sure that the arrival and departure times on your booking form are accurate and that you can vacate the hall complex promptly after clearing up.

Except by prior arrangement, the hirer needs to collect the keys from the Post Office in the village shop before the event and return the keys there afterwards. The shop and Post Office counter is normally open from 7am to 9pm every day – very convenient.

Visiting the Hall

We suggest that before you hire the hall, you visit and see the excellent facilities for yourself. We think that for weddings and large parties a visit is essential so that you can plan to use the facilities to the full.
